A year of travels between Mozambique and Eswatini, through intersections - connecting with creatives saw us draw further into Brazil. We are introduced to the band Ímã by a Brazilian dancer on an exchange program at Mondlane University. Ímã is the coming together of nine extraordinary musicians in their own right. Over a period of 2 years, the band crafted a well knitted 9 track album - an experimentation between Brazilian Rock, Samba, Funk, Ijexá, Boi, among other styles - generating a rich texture and a soundscape filled with possibilities. The Title “Ímã de nove pontas” means nine sided magnet. Mangueador was a song we instantly fell in love with and Parcel (SWZ) gave it a progressive Afro-House touch, paying attention and full homage to the original.
